I Love A Good Crisis
After the last few years we’ve all been through, I can’t wait for another crisis. Bring it on. I hope I’m thrown right in the middle of another great big honkin’ crisis. Now, before you send in men with white coats to haul me away, please allow me to explain myself.
History has proven that in the most challenging economic times, the world has ever faced, a small segment of society thrived. But unfortunately, many people seem to devolve in their attitudes and thoughts. They become pliant lemmings following the masses in negative hysteria. They spend their time worrying about the “What ifs” of the world. While at the same time, there are others who, in a crisis, look for opportunities. These people have a vision, deal with “what is” and always have an eye out for Opportunities.
Entrepreneurs thriving in the worst of times is not a secret. While most people go into hiding and afraid of what might happen, at the same time, in the same world, more millionaires were made than at any other time in history.
But wait, there’s more!
When you look up the word CRISIS in Japanese, the term consists of two characters. The first character means Dangerous. The second character means Opportunity. Look it up.
Never lose hope, no matter what is going on. There is always an opportunity to identify. There will always be a service or product that people will need. But to see these things, you need to eliminate any glass-half-empty mentality. One great example is the rise and explosion in the food home delivery services created because people didn’t want to leave their houses. Fast food delivers. Fine restaurants deliver. Grocery stores deliver. The brains behind these services saw a problem and solved the problem by filling the need.
In 2020, 2021, and 2022, 100% of my business coaching clients had growth years. While their competitors went out of business, they thrived in their respective industries. Our weekly coaching conversations began with a check-up from the neck-up to be sure they were not enabling fear by worrying about what might happen. Then we looked for the Opportunity to fill in their industries and worked hard to do just that. Some of their success stories are incredible.
So, as I’ve written about many times, success is all about a proper mindset. Are you in SURVIVAL mode, or are you in POSSIBILITY mode? Survival mode will run you out of business. Possibility mindsets will grow your business, guaranteed.
So, bring on the crisis. It doesn’t scare me. I’m ready to find a need, then fill a need, and maybe, just maybe, help you change the world, or at least your world.
