Work – A Success Strategy

People with a strong work ethic are in high demand! Who would have thought? Strong work ethics are a highly sought-after trait by job recruiters and executive search firms.

One of my essential success secrets has always been a strong work ethic. I first learned this while growing up on my grandfather’s farm. Knowing how to work is a skill. Work is not something to do in moderation. But, it IS what you do to get ahead. Although, it seems that many people today haven’t figured that out.

The greatest truth of all is that the world does not owe you a thing,

Not one damn thing.

You must create your breaks, and it all starts with hard work. Always work hard and work smart. Even if you’re in a job you hate, you still must work hard. You owe that to your employer. Work hard and then find another job, but always work hard. Again, this is one of those traits that people will notice. Little do many realize that a work ethic is a powerfully desired trait by employers. I know that may sound crazy, but those who know how to work will always have an edge. Unfortunately, many people don’t know how or even want to work. Many have an attitude of empowerment, but for those who learn early that work and concerted effort are the hallmarks of success, then the world is theirs. You WILL be incredibly successful in everything you do if you just put some effort into it. While everyone will wonder what your “secret” to success is, the fundamental secret is that you’ve simply outworked everyone else. It’s just your DNA.

The bottom line is that you can sit around and hope and wish for things all you want. Tell me how that worked for you in five years. Thomas Edison said it best, “Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.” Amen, Mr. Edison, Amen.
