The Issue
In 2021, business owners, entrepreneurs, and executives didn’t get a break from the unprecedented issues of 2020. Business continued to face its most challenging conditions in history. Confusion, doubt, and fear continued to have adverse effects. Once again, in 2021, many businesses were forced to close their doors. Others struggled to understand how to continue to do business. Unfortunately, most were unprepared, and even after the lessons of 2020, few had a Plan B.

In 2021, our message was clear. It was essential for the client to develop and maintain a new “possibility” mindset. Unfortunately, for many, the fear from 2020 remained. After nearly two years of Possibility Thinking in a hostile world, every single one of my clients had flourished once again. The Issue
Nine-year old family business struggled to keep up with market opportunity. It was growing at 10-12% per year but lacked focus, decisive leadership, and market presence.
The Solution
We identified the company’s unique value proposition, then went all-in to position them as the go-to provider for high-acuity, challenging patients. Over time, we focused on developing a professional leadership team. This effort was highlighted by an individualized and customized training program for the executive team and team members. The Covid-19 pandemic created restrictions and roadblocks for all businesses. These challenges threatened their very existence. Many businesses were forced to close their doors, others struggled to understand how to continue to do business. All were unprepared and few had a Plan B.

Every client I work with was asked to develop a new mindset. Everyone was afraid of the unknown. Everywhere you turned there was negative news. I acknowledged that these were challenging times. However, in every point in time of extreme stress and uncertainty there are those who not only survived but thrived. More millionaires were made in 1929, 1980 and 2008 than any other time in history. While most of the population had a Survival mindset, my clients were pushed to develop and maintain a Possibility mindset, Possibility problem solving, Possibility leadership and Possibility planning. This Coach was struggling to survive. They had been very successful in a corporate career, but that experience did not translate to an entrepreneurial setting where he was on his own with little if any support. The Issue
Client was struggling as a contract agent moving from job to job as they came to him. Digital/Virtual Video Production is a very specialized and emerging skill set that is currently in high demand and growing by the minute. My client needed to learn to take advantage of this opportunity.
The Solution
Customized Business Coaching program began with a mindset change from contractor to business owner. We created an actual business and developed a mission statement. We worked on developing a Positioning statement and drastically improving his web site and social media. We worked on understanding the power and importance of selling and developed a strong sales story and tempting call-to-action.

The market response was almost immediate. Sales from the previous year nearly doubled in less than six months. He has landed multiple national name brand accounts and is projecting over a 10x growth in 2021.

Shoe Store

The Issue
Family owned shoe store is a distributorship of a very large international brand. They were doing ok but not great. Owner worked in the store but not on the store. Over 15 years they experienced growth but slow growth. Owner was an expert on shoes but not business.
The Solution
We created a customized program that would focus on a foundation of working with the owner and key staff members to understand how an entrepreneurial businessperson thought, acted and planned. We set goals for the first time and created a system to track all success metrics, so everyone knew exactly what both good and great looked like and if they achieved it. We hired a strong General Manager and held all employees accountable to their particular metrics.
The Result
During the chains national conference, the stores won the award for the #1 store in the United States for the year 2019 with a year to year growth of nearly 40%. We are currently projecting even bigger growth for this year and coming years. They plan to remain #1.
A $7 million dollar company within 6 months
Insurance Industry
The Issue
Client wanted to start up an insurance business for employee benefits. This industry is dominated by old, deep pocket competitors, but ones that have been dealing with customers with the same worn out product lines and customer service for decades. My client believed that there was a better way to do it and he believed he was the one to do it.
The Solution
We implemented a business development, “fast start” process but with a very limited budget. It is designed to build the company from ground up but focusing on only the highest priorities tasks with the greatest consequence. This approach is very untraditional but for start-ups it is the most cost efficient and quickest way to get to market. The plan included and Executive business plan; naming the company; creating media kits and sales materials; sales story; short term goals. Plus, we worked on selling skills and low cost/high impact marketing strategies.
The Result
The first two clients that was acquired were very big organizations/unions who were looking for a change, frustrated with the old stodgy way of thinking. Three months after kick-off the first client was signed and a month later the second was signed. Within the first six months of existence, the client is already a $7million dollar company with projections of being at $25 million in their first 12 months.

The Issue
Established retail store, doing about $1.4 million per year was stuck. The family owned store group found themselves after 15 years, working in the store rather on their store. Little growth year to year with a stale environment, meant that there was lots of turnover. They wanted and were committed to doing whatever necessary to grow again, they just didn’t know how.
The Solution
We began by implementing the CLARITY process to get total awareness about what they actually knew about their business and as important, what they didn’t know about their business. We identified changes in their customer and their buying habits. We hired better and improved training. More importantly we created goals for the first time and went through the process of writing a full and complete business plan, which included a complete marketing plan.
The Result
First year results doubled the past year rising from $1.4 million to $3.2 million. Staff is now stable, and the stores are ranked in the top five in the United States.

Landscaping
The Issue
Client wanted to build a landscaping business from scratch. The challenge is that there are hundreds of small landscape maintenance and management guys with magnetic signs on a pick-up truck. We had to decide how we could set ourselves apart in a crowded market and be noticed. And, as a start-up with limited funding, how could we do this quickly.
The Solution
We found an underserved market (up-scale properties) and totally focused our efforts on that. We implemented the quick-start program for start-up businesses with initial focus on Clarity of the local industry and who the players were. We learned that most were very small and offered basic services. There was a huge gap in landscaping services serving up-scale homes; condo’s; HOA’s and up-scale complexes. We developed a company name and marketing position first and then through the exclusive use of the Champions Power Referral Network we focused our sales plan only on the up-scale players in the market.
The Result
Within the first four months of the business roll-out, this client went from $0 revenue to $100,000 in monthly revenue (and growing monthly) with a number of five and six figure landscaping projects under contract. Our year one projections have us on track to do in excess of $5 million.

Client was highly profitable and very successful. However, he believed that if he ever left for a few days let alone a vacation that the business would fall on ruin. In other words, he believed that only he could keep it going and he couldn’t trust any of his managers or employees. The result was that he had not taken a vacation in seven years and never with his family.
The Solution
Customized Business Coaching plan based on a review of all foundational business practices and skills; leadership training; development of metrics and benchmarks for all departments and a very strong emphasis on clear goal development; and, communication skills development and improvement Goal was to set a date for a vacation in 90 days and take a vacation in 180 days.

The Issue
Client was a great realtor and an average business person/entrepreneur. He and his wife were working very hard, spending lots of hours but working in a way that the industry has always taught. They used a “realty” coach who was well known, however, all the “coaching” was teaching them to be a better realtor rather than a better business person. Most of the “coaching” was focused strictly on accountability reporting. They knew that they could sell more and make more, they just didn’t know how to do it without working more!

The Issue
A small branding/marketing agency produced incredibly great, creative and award winning product, but the owner and the one other full time and one part time employee were uncomfortable in implementing a sales and marketing process for their own business. We created a custom business coaching program that would simplify and help them, when implemented, do the sales, networking and marketing follow-up functions that they knew they needed to do but now in a way that they actually felt comfortable and enjoyed doing.

The Issue
Independent insurance agent working for a large independent firm in a huge metro market. The firm specializes in commercial/ business insurance and has over thirty agents. The client was one of those agents and had a strong background in the industry and a very smart guy. Problem was that the traditional requirements of the job, an industry standard approach, were to make a large amount of cold sales calls. This approach was something that he was very uncomfortable doing, to a point that he was thinking about folding the business if it wasn’t for the investment in time and money that he had made.
The Solution
We created a customized business coaching program that focused on helping the client do what he needed to do, when he needed to do it but in a way that he enjoyed and felt comfortable doing. This included learning a new prospecting and sales process that focused on building a 10X referral process through known Champions.
The Result
Sales exponentially exploded with unprecedented personal sales growth, giving him new confidence and leadership credibility. He now is the acting President of the company.

The Issue
The client is a small business owner, in business for a little over 15 years. He had done well but had stagnated with no growth for several years. He was tired and frustrated and without purpose. He was not aggressive in finding new clients and basically waited for them to come to him. He was asking himself why he wanted to continue. He saw no future and was questioning his legacy, if he had really made any difference. He was concerned that he would turn 60 and have not much more than when he had started.
The Solution
Our customized business coaching program focused on one thing, CLARITY! He had no focus on the future and no goals, personal or business. We focused on getting clarity on every level of his business and creating a process for every level. This particularly involved a marketing process and a sales process which included a foundational selling process and a simple plan to ask for referrals. We developed an ACQUISITION program and a RETENTION program. In addition, we created a tracking process which allowed him to know at any given moment what his business was accomplishing.

First year program doubled business with projections on growing business over 10x in the next 3 years. We’re currently finalizing a five-year plan with projections and very clear goals. He finally has a horizon and a purpose.

Business stagnation due to constant in fighting by family members which resulted in a “hostile” work environment. The result was a complete lack of internal communication; teamwork and leadership. It was crisis driven and process oriented. We created an immediate action plan to sit everyone down in an ownership/family position and “force” them to identify an agreeable organizational chart with clear lines of communication. Then we focused on putting out as many of the “fires” within the company as we could and implementing a strong program of improved communication, trust and pride exemplified in all family members and then to all employees.

$Billion-dollar family owned corporate business was growing despite itself. Each family member managed a location or a division of the business. Over time the business was an industry steamroller, but their lack of progressive tracking systems; goals and innovative business plans was strangling their long term potential.

We implemented a process to systematically review their foundational business plan and to get buy in company/family wide to create an innovative, forward looking enhanced business plan focusing on fixing the cracks in their current system and implementing new programs and systems. Also, an emphasis was put on pricing models and sales skills, particularly in hiring more qualified sales teams.

With this program, revenue growth was nearly instantaneous. The system focused on how to close a higher percentage of existing sales opportunities in hand with how to command a higher average sale. This was followed by how to attract new sales opportunities by implementing a more effective marketing program.

The Issue

We created a customized business coaching program primarily focused on “street-fighting” sales techniques, giving him a system and program to follow. The program included a prospecting system designed for “out of the box” thinking compared to traditional real estate prospecting; dealing with objections and closing techniques.

The Issue
The client was a franchisee of a business that required lots of cold sales calls; door to door, business to business selling. He paid nearly $100,000 in total investment. The provided training was minimal as was ongoing support. He learned that without the support, he would have to figure out on his own how to be successful with the business and get ROI on his investment.
The Solution
Together we did a deep dive in the business and what effort would be required to resurrect the business and save his investment. After working through the Clarity process with him we decided to switch directions. Instead of trying to build the franchise, we chose to develop an exit strategy for him. We shored up elements of the business; created a value proposition and began to quietly market it.

The business sold to another franchisee who wanted multiple areas. The client got much of his investment back and he felt comfortable moving on to a new career path.

The difference in the success and failure of any start up, entrepreneurial business is in their depth of clarity that the entrepreneur has about their business. This is clarity that is written. This is clarity that has no gray areas. This is a business plan. Banks or Angel investors won’t even look at you if you don’t have one. Most entrepreneurs have not taken the time to write a solid business plan that has been challenged by another experienced and successful entrepreneur. In this case my client had a one page description of his product/service and the rest was “in his head”.

I have been a part of starting 14+ business start-ups and I know that and abundance of Clarity or a complete lack thereof has been the success differential.
